Tired of the monthly bookclub, I know I am… remember: dogs like to play, run around, fetch and retrieve. Sitting around pontificating on the “Unbearable Lightness of Being,” is fun, sometimes, but what about throwing a Wii party, it could really get your blood pumpin… and your dogs… Just be careful with the Wii-mote, it isn’t a great subsititute for a rubber bone.

LATE BREAKING NEWS
According to a couple of news outlets including CNN, Bill Cosby’s dog, a Dandie Dinmont named Ch Hobergays Fineus Fog or Harry for short, is the leader of the pack a Westminster today.

He took BEST OF BREED but was the only Dandie in the show (the only DANDIE at a dog show, impossible). Let’s see how he does with BEST IN SHOW… there are 2,628 entries at the Westminster Dog Show in Madison Square Garden today.

You know what they say about people and their dogs…

Get this dog a sweater and some Jello-Pudding pops… the resemblance is remarkable.

WEASEL THE EARLESS TERRIER

My little dog heart practically broke when I read an article in The Daily Mail, about a terrier born without ears who was abandoned at a police station in Wales at just five weeks old.

Luckily for him, he made it to the local “Dog Trust” rehoming center where he was named Weasel. The article, by Lucy Ballinger, quoted, Beverley Price, manager of Bridgend Dogs Trust, as saying “Despite his obvious disability, Weasel is a fantastic dog. He is happy, friendly and really healthy in every other way.

What makes me sad about this article is how some humans are so obbsessed with perfection and the cuteness machine, that they are willing to sacrafice, happy, healthy dogs to it… something has got to change!

ALL THE BARK THAT’S FIT TO POST
So, I’ve been away for a while, my best friend was out in Orlando for the PGA Merchandising Conference and I was shipped over to a friend’s house who only has dial-up access… but has a lot of reading material I could paw through, so here’s a few things I picked up over the last couple a days.

SKYBARk

L.A., Vegas and Boston, now doggies that like to drink and best friends who like the nightlife have a place to do it all in style. SKYBARk is the brainchild of Brandon Hochman and Ralph Diaz, the inventors of PETaPOTTY, inside “mini-parks” that help best friends potty train puppies and give us some grass to roll around in when our friends are away.

SKYBARk has a fixed location on top of PETaPOTTY’s headquarters on Santa Fe Avenue in L.A. DOGGIE IN THE WINDOW
Just about 8 million dogs wind up in shelters every year and of those about 4 million are “euthanized” (i.e. killed). One of the main reasons we end up in this perdicament is due to “behavioral issues” but whose “behavior issues” is what I ask?

So, I hope that you humans who are considering becoming a pooch’s best friend, know that it’s best to do your research before unleashing what may become one of the most rewarding relationships of your life. PASS ME A COLD ONE
Check this out, a pet shop owner in the Netherlands has created a beer made of beef extract and malt for her dogs. In an brief released by the AP a couple of hours ago, Terrie Berenden “consigned a local brewery to make and bottle the nonalcoholic beer, branded as Kwispelbier. It was introduced to the market last week and advertised it as ‘a beer for your best friend.’

‘Kwispel’ is the Dutch word for wagging a tail.”

This isn’t the only company getting in on the “Dog with a Pint” campaign…

Sounds pretty good, but I think I’ll stick with the Champagne!
